Trumps Budget Boosts Crypto Markets Despite Lack of Direct Provisions

Trump’s Budget Bill Passes—No Crypto Rules, But Markets React Anyway

The U.S. House just pushed through President Trump’s big budget bill, and crypto wasn’t even mentioned in it. Not a single line. But here’s the thing—Bitcoin still ticked up afterward. Maybe markets saw something lawmakers didn’t.

The bill, dubbed “Big Beautiful Bill” by Trump, squeezed through by a razor-thin 218–214 vote late Thursday. Only two Republicans broke ranks: Thomas Massie, who called it a “deficit disaster,” and Brian Fitzpatrick, a rare anti-Trump holdout. The rest? Full steam ahead on tax cuts and spending shifts, even if it means piling another $3–4 trillion onto the national debt over ten years.

Where Crypto Fit In (Or Didn’t)

Senator Cynthia Lummis tried. She’d floated amendments to tweak mining and staking taxes—something the crypto industry’s been sweating over. But none of it made the final cut. Instead, she introduced a separate crypto tax bill the same day, almost like a consolation prize.

You’d think the industry would slump at the snub, but Bitcoin barely noticed. It hovered around $110,000, up slightly, while the broader market inched up 0.3%. Not a fireworks moment, but not bad for a day when crypto got zero legislative love.

Why the Optimism?

Here’s the unspoken angle: that mountain of new debt might actually help crypto. More government borrowing usually means more liquidity sloshing around—the kind that often spills into riskier assets like stocks and, yeah, digital currencies.

It’s not a direct win, sure. No new rules clarifying staking taxes or miner reporting. But traders seem to be betting that all this fresh cash floating through the system has to go somewhere. And lately, “somewhere” has included crypto.

Of course, none of this is guaranteed. Markets are fickle, and debt-driven rallies can fizzle fast. But for now, the takeaway’s simple: Washington didn’t give crypto what it wanted, but it might’ve handed it something else entirely.
